The Panthers jumped out to a two-touchdown lead on the Seahawks after just over three minutes thanks to an interception return for a touchdown by linebacker Luke Kuechly.
Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson was attempting to find Marshawn Lynch over the middle on a short pass but the throw was behind Lynch and directly into the arms of Kuechly, who returned the interception 14 yards for a touchdown.
The score put Carolina up 14–0, and came just two plays after the Panthers scored on their first offensive possession of the game.
