The father of Broncos defensive end Antonio Smith has died after complications from heart surgery, Smith confirmed to The Denver Post on Wednesday.
The father of Broncos defensive end Antonio Smith has died after complications from heart surgery, Smith confirmed to The Denver Post on Wednesday.
“It’s rough. I just found out this morning,” Smith said on Wednesday. “It was my mom who called and told me. The call came in at about 6:30.”
According to the Post, Smith will stay in San Francisco and plans on playing in Sunday’s Super Bowl.
The 34-year-old recorded nine total tackles and 2.5 sacks this season for the Broncos.
