Will Smith and Hokie Gajan were honored with their jersey numbers displayed outside of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Friday night, the team tweeted.

Earlier in the week, former NFL defensive lineman Smith was shot dead in New Orleans. In the police report, authorities say that Smith was involved in a three-car collision, and was shot multiple times in an ensuing altercation. One of the drivers was taken into custody and questioned by police.

Gajan, a longtime Saints radio analyst and former running back, died on Monday at 56 after a battle with cancer.

The Saints initially planned to announce Smith and Gajan will be inducted into the franchise’s Hall of Fame in May but moved up the announcement after their deaths. The players will be enshrined posthumously later this year.

Smith, 34, last played in 2012 with the Saints, recording 33 total tackles in 16 games with six sacks. A first-round pick in 2004 out of Ohio State, Smith spent his entire 10-year career in New Orleans.

Cardell Hayes, 28, waited for police to arrive after the shooting and was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder.
