The Eagles have acquired the second pick in the upcoming NFL draft in a trade with the Browns, Philadelphia announced Wednesday.
In return, Cleveland receives the Eagles’ first-round pick (No. 8), a third-round and fourth-round pick in this year’s draft, a first-round pick in next year’s draft and a second-round pick in 2018.
Philadelphia had long been rumored to be looking to trade up in the draft. The Eagles were reportedly interested in acquiring the top pick from Titans but Tennessee traded that pick to the Rams.

“By making the initial trade with Miami earlier this offseason and with this trade today with Cleveland, we feel that we have put ourselves in the best possible position to draft an impact player,” Eagles’ player personnel head Howie Roseman said in a statement. “We will now focus our energy on the next step.”
The NFL draft will begin on April 28.
