Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins suffered a small broken bone in his foot, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport and Tyler Dunne of the Buffalo News.

There is still no timetable for his recovery but Watkins is expected to be ready to join the team for training camp. He underwent a procedure to insert a screw in his foot about a month ago, according to Dunne.

Watkins was participating in the team's off-season workouts after an early absence.

Watkins suffered his own share of injuries last year as he underwent hip surgery and then injured his calf and knee in the regular season. He finished with 60 receptions for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns.

The team's next-best option at receiver may by Robert Woods, if Watkins is forced to miss extended time.

The Watkins injury news comes shortly after the team announced that draftee Shaq Lawson would undergo surgery on his shoulder.
