Free-agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick wants to re-sign with the New York Jets this offseason, despite the fact that the two sides have not been close in negotiations so far, he said on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
Fitzpatrick said that he is still getting ready for the season, despite the fact that he could very likely miss the team’s OTA offseason workouts, which begin tomorrow.
“I had a great time with the guys last year and I want to continue doing this. I’m still preparing for the season,” Fitzpatrick said. “It’s been a process and the good thing about it is the discussions have been behind closed doors.”

The 33-year-old seems to be trying to avoid thinking about the other contracts signed by free-agent quarterbacks so far this offseason.
“You would drive yourself crazy looking at other contracts around the league,” Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick had the best season of his 11-year career last season, throwing for 3,905 yards, 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. The Jets finished 10–6 and narrowly missed the playoffs.
