Chargers release WR James Jones
The San Diego Chargers have released wide receiver James Jones.
The San Diego Chargers have released wide receiver James Jones, the team announced Monday.
Jones was signed by the Chargers in early August after starter Stevie Johnson was lost for the season with a torn meniscus in his right knee.
Jones was not listed among the team’s top-four receivers on the depth chart and does not have the added value of playing on special teams.
The 32-year-old has played well over his nine-year NFL career, recording 431 receptions for 5,861 yards and 51 touchdowns.
Jones hauled in 50 catches for 890 yards and eight touchdowns as a member of the Green Bay Packers in 2015.
