Bears release kicker Robbie Gould

Kicker Robbie Gould has been released by the Bears,

The Chicago Bears have released veteran kicker Robbie Gould, the team announced. 

Gould's release was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Gould signed with the Bears in 2005 and has played in the last 11 seasons for Chicago, making the Pro Bowl in 2006.

"Thank you to the Bears organization, teammates, coaches, and fans. Once a Bear, always a Bear," Gould said on Twitter.

Gould is coming off a season in which he completed 33 of 39 field goals and 28 of 29 extra points. He is the team's all-time leading scorer with 1,207 points and field goals made with 276.

Gould, 34, was set to make $3 million in base salary this season, and has already been paid a $500,000 bonus for being on the roster on the first day of the league year.

There are no other kickers currently listed on the Bears depth chart, but according to multiple media reports, the team will sign Connor Barth. Barth was cut by the New Orleans Saints over the weekend and played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015. 

Chicago opens the regular season on Sept. 11 against the Houston Texans.
