Report: Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) could be sidelined for weeks

Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins could be shut down for a few weeks because of discomfort in his foot.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins is playing with severe discomfort in his surgically repaired foot and could be shut down for a few weeks, reports the New York Daily News.

The diagnosis is dependent on how well Watkins' foot responds and if he can tolerate the pain.

Watkins had off-season surgery to repair a small break in one of the bones in his foot.

According to the report, X-rays were taken after the Bills lost, 13–7, to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, but the results did not reveal a break. The Bills have been told that surgery is not an option at this point.

Only in his third season, Watkins has been saddled with rib, ankle, calf and hip injuries, but has missed just three games in his NFL career as a result of his injuries.

Watkins had four catches for 43 yards in the loss to the Ravens and has led the team in receiving yards each of the last two seasons.

The Bills next play the New York Jets (0–1) on Thursday night.
