One must tread lightly when criticizing a coach, because so much of his job hinges on factors behind the scenes and out of his control. With a nod to that caveat, here’s your hot take: the Packers’ offense was the most poorly coached in 2015. When No. 1 wideout Jordy Nelson went down with an ACL tear, the entire receiving corps took a step backward. That’s a problem with McCarthy’s system, where the play designs demand that receivers beat defenders on their own. Nelson’s return this season will help rectify some of the problems, but it’s also important that McCarthy learns from last season and tweaks his scheme.
