NFL Odds: Seahawks favored to bounce back in a big way vs. Rams on Thursday night

The Seahawks were embarrassed against the Packers last week, but the odds are in their favor as they try to bounce back against the Rams, who fired their coach Jeff Fisher earlier this week.

The Seattle Seahawks (8-4-1) have looked bad in all of their losses this year, including an early setback against the Los Angeles Rams (4–9) back in Week 2.

The Seahawks were 5.5-point road favorites in that first meeting – falling 9–3 in Los Angeles's first home game in more than 20 years—and they are nearly triple that this time around in this week’s Thursday night matchup.

Seattle is a 15-point home favorite at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com off a lopsided loss to the Green Bay Packers.

A lot has obviously happened since that first meeting, most notably Los Angeles head coach Jeff Fisher getting fired on Monday. The Rams are simply moving in another direction and hope to lure a big name who can help develop rookie quarterback Jared Goff, who they selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Goff has started the last four games for the team and remains winless with veteran Case Keenum getting the call in the first game. Keenum earned the first of three straight wins back then before losing his job to Goff.

NFL Week 14 Blanket: Why Seahawks may be doomed without Earl Thomas

Defensively, Los Angeles can certainly hang with the Seahawks and proved that in holding them to just a field goal last time. With that upset victory, the Rams improved to 7–2 against the spread in the past nine meetings, according to the OddsShark NFL Database, despite dropping 17 of the previous 23 in the series straight up.

However, Los Angeles has also lost seven in a row as an underdog overall, going 0–6–1 ATS.

Seattle will be trying to bounce back from a brutal 38–10 loss to the Packers last week as a three-point road favorite, and the team has fared well in this situation recently. The Seahawks have won seven straight while going 5–1–1 ATS in their last seven games following a loss.

This season, they have won their next game by an average of more than 19 points after suffering their previous three losses.

Another motivator for Seattle here besides playing for revenge is that the team can clinch the NFC West title and a fifth consecutive playoff berth with a win over the Rams.
