Patriots vs. Rams History: All-Time Head-to-Head Results
The Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots will go head-to-head on Sunday, Feb. 3 in Super Bowl LIII.
While Super Bowl LIII will mark the first time the two teams have met since 2016, it will not be the first time the Rams and Patriots clash on the big stage.
The 2019 Super Bowl will be a rematch of the 2002 title game – a matchup that took place in New Orleans and started New England's dynasty. Brady and the Patriots were facing a then-St. Louis based Rams team. The Rams were heralded as 'The Greatest Show on Turf' due to their offense that was better than any in the league with Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt at the helm. The Patriots defeated the Rams 20–17 on a last-second field goal by Adam Vinatieri.
Aside from the Super Bowl XXXVI win, New England has racked up seven other wins against the Rams in 13 total games for an all-time record of 8–5.
The first meeting between the two teams came in 1974, when the Rams lost 20–14 to New England. After defeating the Patriots 17–14 in 1980, the Rams would lose two-straight matchups against New England before recording four-straight victories against them in 1989, 1992, 1998 and 2001.
The Rams' 2002 Super Bowl loss marked their first to New England in nearly a decade and the team hasn't recorded a victory over the Patriots since.
In the last meeting between the two teams, the Patriots dropped the Rams to 4–8 on the season by handing them a 26–10 loss on Dec. 4, 2016.
