Ravens' Tony Jefferson Out for Season With Torn ACL
Ravens safety Tony Jefferson will miss the remainder of the 2019 season after suffering a torn ACL during the team's 26-23 overtime win over the Steelers on Sunday, coach John Harbaugh announced.
Jefferson’s injury occurred in the fourth quarter on a long pass intended for the Steelers' Nick Vannett. Jefferson went down and seemingly grabbed Vannett as he fell to the turf to prevent the tight end from breaking wide open.
The 27-year-old safety was unable to put any weight on his left leg and was carted off the field as a result.
"At least has an ACL [tear], probably more, so he'll be out for the season as it stands right now," Harbaugh told the media following the game.
Jefferson had one tackle against the Steelers before his exit. Third-year safety Chuck Clark replaced Jefferson and finished with two tackles, including one for loss.
Jefferson's abbreviated fourth season in Baltimore ends with 21 tackles and two passes defended.
The Ravens (3-2) play the Bengals (0-5) next week.
