Report: Patrick Mahomes May Return to Chiefs In Less Than Three Weeks
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may return from a dislocated kneecap sooner than expected, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
ESPN reports Mahomes could return in three weeks, if not sooner. ESPN's Chris Mortensen added that Mahomes "feels good" and thinks he is a "week to week" decision.
MRI results on Friday showed the "best-case" scenario for Mahomes after he went down while attempting a quarterback sneak in the second quarter of Thursday night's win over the Broncos. He was able to walk off the field after the team’s medical staff popped the bone back into place but was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game.
Mahomes is the reigning MVP and has thrown for 2,180 yards and 15 touchdowns through seven games.
Matt Moore was promoted to the starting role in Mahomes' absence. Kyle Shurmur is expected to move from the practice squad to serve as the backup quarterback.
