Report: Cardinals Agree to Trade for Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake
The Cardinals and Dolphins have agreed to a trade that will send Miami running back Kenyan Drake to Arizona, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
The Dolphins will receive a conditional 2020 sixth-round pick in exchange, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports. The draft pick could become a fifth-round choice.
Drake did not make the trip to Pittsburgh with the rest of the team for Monday night’s game against the Steelers, an indication that the Dolphins were finally close to moving a player who had been rumored to be on the block since September.
The Cardinals are thin at running back after losing Chase Edmonds to a hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss to the Saints. David Johnson sat out the game with an ankle injury and was limited to just one carry against the Giants two weeks ago.
The Cardinals play the 49ers on Thursday and Johnson is reportedly expected to miss that game as well. Arizona coach Kliff Kingsbury said he is concerned Edmonds could also be out.
Drake, who has averaged 4.6 yards per carry in four NFL seasons, will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
