Titans’ 2022 NFL Draft Picks: Who Tennessee Took Each Round

Could the franchise draft Ryan Tannehill’s eventual successor this season?
In this story:

One of the biggest goals for the Titans this draft season should be replenishing its offense with the aim to reach a similar efficiency of their previous campaigns with Ryan Tannehill under center.

The franchise led the NFL in red-zone efficiency and ranked fifth in points and yards that season; however, in 2021, the unit dropped to 17th in yards, 15th in points and fifth in red-zone efficiency. The Titans added a wide receiver and tight end during the offseason, but the offensive line is still lacking with the need to replace starters at left guard and right tackle.

General manager Jon Robinson did acknowledge the possibility of finding a quarterback to be Tannehill’s successor, and the question remains about whether the Titans could be searching for an additional running back behind Derrick Henry, who missed nine games in 2021 due to an injury.

The franchise ended with a 12–5 record, earning the AFC South title and the No. 1 seed on the AFC side of the playoff bracket. However, Tennessee lost to the Bengals in the divisional round on a walk-off 52-yard field goal from Evan McPherson, which sent Cincinnati to its first AFC championship since 1988.

During Thursday's draft, Tennessee traded wide receiver AJ Brown to Philadelphia and acquired the Eagles' No. 18 and No. 101 picks. Here is how Tennessee’s draft has turned out thus far (to be updated during NFL draft):

  • Round 1, Pick 18: (from Saints via Eagles): Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas
  • Round 2, Pick 35 (from Jets): Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn
  • Round 3, Pick 69 (from Jes): Nicholas Petit-Frere, OT, Ohio State
  • Round 3, Pick 86 (from Raiders): Malik Willis, QB, Liberty
