Chiefs’ Mecole Hardman Placed on Injured Reserve List

The wide receiver will miss at least the next four games, including the team’s “Sunday Night Football” matchup against the Chargers this week.

Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman was placed on the injured reserve list on Wednesday due to an abdomen injury and an unknown illness, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported.

This means Kansas City will be without one of their receivers for the next four weeks, including this week’s Sunday Night Football matchup vs. the Chiefs’ AFC West rival, the Chargers.

Three other Chiefs receivers are questionable for Sunday’s matchup, including JuJu Smith-Schuster as he recovers from a concussion, Marquez Valdes-Scantling as he deals with an illness and Jerick McKinnon who is recovering from a shoulder and hamstring injury.

Hardman’s placement on the IR also comes one day after former Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill called Hardman “the best WR in the NFL right now” in a tweet on Tuesday.

The current Dolphins receiver, who currently leads the league in receiving yards with 1,148, shocked many fans when he named his former teammate.

The Chiefs won’t hurt on offense too much with Hardman’s absence as he currently ranks fourth on the team for most receiving yards with 297. He also has 31 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown on top of his four receiving touchdowns.
