Cardinals Narrow Head Coaching Search to Three Finalists, per Sources

Arizona is inching closer to hiring the replacement for recently fired coach Kliff Kingsbury.

The Cardinals have narrowed their head coaching search to three finalists, sources have told Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

Steelers senior defensive assistant Brian Flores, Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo and Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka all are slated to receive final interviews for Arizona’s open position after the Cardinals fired Kliff Kingsbury at the end of the regular season.

Breer also reports that the Cardinals informed their defensive coordinator, Vance Joseph, as well as Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan that they have been eliminated from consideration.

It’s been an active offseason for the Cardinals, who had to replace not only their head coach but also their general manager, as Steve Keim elected to step down from the role and focus on his health. Arizona hired Monti Ossenfort in mid-January, and he has played a key role in the coaching search since coming aboard.

Arizona finished this season with a 4–13 record, their worst mark since Kingsbury took over in 2019. The Cardinals never have had a head coach last more than six seasons in their 100-plus-year history.
