Patrick Mahomes Just Did Something Brady, Montana, Elway Couldn’t
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won his second career Super Bowl title on Sunday night in a 38–35 thriller over the Eagles.
Mahomes won his second career Super Bowl MVP with another stellar, but efficient passing performance, as he completed 21-of-27 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns. Mahomes also rushed for 44 yards in the victory, making some timely plays on the ground in the process.
In securing the Super Bowl LVII title on Sunday, the Chiefs quarterback joined rare company. Just three players have led the NFL in passing yards and won a championship in the same season since World War II, according to Football Perspective.

That’s right—Mahomes accomplished a feat that Brady, Montana and John Elway didn’t accomplish in their illustrious careers.
Mahomes finished the 2022 season with a career-high 5,250 yards and 41 touchdowns to just 12 interceptions, completing a career-high 67.1% of his passes in the process.
He also won his second career NFL MVP award in the regular season. Now with another Super Bowl title in tow, Mahomes has already etched himself into the conversation of the game’s great quarterbacks at just 27 years old.
