Mahomes, Cousins to Be Featured in New Netflix ‘Quarterback’ Docuseries
Netflix’s foray into the sports documentary space is taking another step forward—this time with the help of the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
The streaming giant announced Wednesday its latest docuseries, Quarterback, which takes an in-depth look at three quarterbacks throughout the 2022 season: Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota. The series was produced in conjunction with NFL Films and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Quarterback will be Netflix’s latest in what’s become an increasingly prolific genre of storytelling, joining other sports docuseries like Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Break Point and Full Swing. The latter two debuted this year, while Drive to Survive premiered in 2019 and has a fifth season debuting later this month.
The three players wore microphones for every game, providing an all-access look into every step of the 17-game season. The series is currently only slated for one season, though it’s possible a second will be picked up at a later date.

“I’m excited for fans to get an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at an unforgettable season for the entire Chiefs organization and for my family,” Mahomes said in a statement. “From welcoming home a new baby in the middle of the season to welcoming the Lombardi trophy back to Kansas City, our crew was there for it all. This new Netflix series will show the time, preparation and balance that it takes to be an NFL quarterback and perform on the biggest stage.”
Quarterback is set to launch sometime this summer.
