Bruce Arians ‘Very Comfortable’ With Kyle Trask As Buccaneers’ New Quarterback

With Tom Brady retired, the Buccaneers enter a new era, potentially one led by an unproven third-year quarterback Kyle Trask.

Trask, a former second-round pick out of Florida, has appeared in just one NFL game, completing 3-of-9 passes for 23 yards in Tampa Bay’s Week 18 loss to the Falcons. Even so, former Bucs coach Bruce Arians has the utmost confidence in the former third-stringer.

“I think they are in good hands with Kyle Trask,” Arians, who serves as a consultant for the franchise after retiring ahead of the 2022 season, said on The Rich Eisen Show Thursday. 

“I love Kyle. He’s been there two years now. Saw Tom [Brady] work, how to get there. Blaine Gabbert was a great mentor for him.”

While Arians has confidence in Trask, he said the team has to be prepared to go in another direction if the opportunity presents itself. Back in 2020, that opportunity came in the form of Brady, and culminated with a Super Bowl win.

“Just like three years ago, you’ve got to search what’s behind door number two,” Arians said. “Three years ago we never would’ve guessed Tom Brady was behind door number two. You do all your research and homework and decide what is best for you. But right now I’m very comfortable that Kyle’s our guy.”
