Josh Jacobs will reportedly remain with the Raiders for at least one more season after the club officially franchise tagged the star running back on Monday, according NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The news comes just days after it was reported that Las Vegas intended to place its franchise tag on Jacobs, the NFL’s leading rusher this past season, by Tuesday’s deadline barring an agreement on an extension. With the anticipated move now reportedly official, the 25-year-old All-Pro is set to play out the 2023 season on a one-year, $10.091 million tender.

Although Jacobs and the Raiders were unable to agree to a new deal, both sides will now have the opportunity to extend talks into the offseason. Las Vegas will have until July 15 to ink Jacobs to a long-term deal or risk losing him in free agency next season.

Jacobs, the 24th pick in 2019, solidified a spot in the Raiders’ future plans following a stellar ’22 campaign. Jacobs went on to earn his first career All-Pro and second Pro Bowl nods, recording 1,653 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns. He also finished the year with a league-best 2,053 total scrimmage yards.
