Colin Kaepernick Shares Ongoing Training Routine for NFL
While Colin Kaepernick recently released his new book Colin Kaepernick: Change the Game, the former 49ers quarterback is still pursuing a dream to return to the NFL.
In a recent interview with CBS News, Kaepernick revealed his current daily workout routine should an NFL team give him a chance to return to the gridiron.
“Five, six days a week I'm still up at 4:30 [a.m.], I go get my training in,” Kaepernick said. “Yeah, that passion is still there, and the ability is still there.”
Kaepernick, who was drafted by the 49ers in 2011, has not played in the NFL since the conclusion of the 2016 season. During that year, Kaepernick began kneeling during the national anthem in protest against police brutality and institutionalized racism in America.
In 2017, Kaepernick sued the league, claiming that the team owners colluded to keep him out of the NFL due to his decision to protest. The NFL later confidentially settled the lawsuit, but the quarterback has yet to find a spot with a team.
As he remains away from the football—in addition preparing to release his book—Kaepernick is working on a Netflix documentary with director Spike Lee that will share more insight on his decision to protest back in ’16.
