Conflicting Reports Emerge Regarding Aaron Rodgers’s Status With Packers
The entire NFL world is awaiting Aaron Rodgers’s decision regarding his future with the Packers. On Monday, Trey Wingo reported that a blockbuster deal sending Rodgers to the Jets was “done,” but it didn’t take long for conflicting reports to emerge.
“Hearing Rodgers to the Jets is done. History about to repeat itself between New York and Green Bay. Time is indeed a flat circle,” wrote Wingo on Twitter.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport denied any deal being done, indicating that "nothing has happened."
Additionally, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Jets are ”cautiously optimistic” about pulling off the trade, but echoed that nothing is done just yet.
The Jets have long been linked as one of the most likely destinations for Rodgers, should he opt to leave the Packers and continue his NFL career elsewhere. It’s unclear what the return to Green Bay would be in any trade with New York.
Jets players have voiced their desire to see Rodgers in New York, reaching bold heights with their viral recruitment pitches to the 39-year-old. That continued on Sunday after Wingo's report made the rounds online.
For now, it’s nothing more than a waiting game. Wingo’s report that the Jets and Packers had a “done” deal for Rodgers caused quite the stir, though Rapoport and Schefter were quick to attempt to clear the air with their own reports.
