Ex-Vikings WR Adam Thielen Agrees to Three-Year Deal With Panthers, per Report
The Panthers are adding to their receiving corps via free agency, having reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with former Vikings wideout Adam Thielen, according to reports from Ian Rapoport and Pat McAfee.
The terms of the deal have not yet been reported, but Thielen confirmed the news via his Instagram account by posting a video story of his children celebrating and singing “Sweet Caroline.”
The 32-year-old spent the first nine years of his career with the Vikings before the team opted to release him this offseason. Now, he's latching on with the Panthers, who just recently traded DJ Moore to the Bears in a deal to acquire the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
Last season, Thielen recorded 70 receptions for 716 yards and six touchdowns while featuring in all 17 games. He has 30 touchdown catches in the last three years, and 55 in his career.
In total, the Detroit Lakes, Minn. native featured in 135 games for his hometown team, where he latched on as an undrafted free agent back in 2013.
Thielen is the latest addition in what has been a busy offseason for the Panthers, who have added several pieces to the offense including quarterback Andy Dalton, running back Miles Sanders, and tight end Hayden Hurst.
Entering his 10th season in the league, Thielen will join a wide receivers room consisting of Laviska Shenault Jr., Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith, among others.
