Chiefs’ Andy Reid Shares Positive Patrick Mahomes Injury Update
Patrick Mahomes’s postseason heroics knew no limits this past winter, despite the significant ankle injury he suffered in the divisional round of the playoffs. Obviously, the Chiefs would prefer for their star quarterback to be fully healthy to start the 2023 season, and it appears he’s on his way to being just that when he and Kansas City look to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
“He didn’t have to get anything done. He’s doing good. He feels good,” coach Andy Reid recently told NFL Network. “This time, he jumped right back into workouts and working the ankle, rehabbing the ankle. He’s lifting and running the parts that he could run, and he didn’t miss a beat on that.”
The 27-year-old Mahomes appears to have avoided surgery and is on pace to pick up right where he left off last season. Mahomes finished 2022 with 5,250 passing yards and 41 touchdown passes on his way to his second regular-season MVP and second Super Bowl MVP.
The Chiefs’ 2023 schedule has yet to be announced, so it remains to be seen whom Mahomes and Co. will play to open their title defense.
