Jets Coach Robert Saleh Was Asked About Aaron Rodgers Situation
The Jets and Packers have yet to work out an Aaron Rodgers trade, but head coach Robert Saleh doesn’t seem too worried about it. Instead, Saleh is looking on the brighter side of the situation involving the four-time MVP.
For Saleh, the fact that Rodgers and other high-caliber players want to come to New York is a sign the Jets already have “come a long way” since Saleh’s hiring.
“We’ve come a long way in two years. And to have a guy of his caliber … a lot of guys have wanted to come here and play. There’s a lot of excitement around the organization. It’s a cool thing to be a part of, and hopefully we can continue moving forward,” Saleh said at the NFL owners meetings Monday, after being asked how significant it is that Rodgers wants to play in New York.
Earlier in March, Rodgers revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he had informed the Packers of his desire to continue his career with the Jets. Although no trade has materialized yet, the two sides reportedly are negotiating a deal.
It’s been more than a decade since the Jets’ most recent playoff appearance, but the franchise looks to be headed in the right direction. Rodgers’s interest in playing in New York is an indication of as much, in the eyes of Saleh, who expressed his excitement over the Jets’ newfound ability to attract quality talent.
