Ex-Florida QB Anthony Richardson Set to Meet With Six NFL Teams, per Report
Florida’s Anthony Richardson, who is considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2023 NFL draft, has six team visits set up after Thursday’s pro day in Gainesville, The Score’s Jordan Schultz reported on Wednesday.
As of now, the quarterback will meet with the Panthers, Colts, Titans, Raiders, Falcons and Ravens, per Schultz.
The Panthers have the No. 1 overall pick after a blockbuster trade with the Bears. Coach Frank Reich has made it clear that Carolina intends on drafting a quarterback with the top pick, but the team is expected to draft Alabama’s Bryce Young or Ohio State’s CJ Stroud.
The Colts also could use a starting quarterback after last season’s starter, Matt Ryan, was released by the team earlier this month. However, the team signed quarterback Gardner Minshew a couple weeks ago.
As for the rest of those teams, Richardson would be drafted most likely to serve as a backup initially. Another exception for Richardson potentially being a starter, though, would be the Ravens, if Lamar Jackson is traded away.
Sports Illustrated’s Mock Draft 5.0 has Richardson being picked up by the Colts with the fourth overall pick in April.
Richardson showed out at the recent NFL scouting combine with eye-popping marks in the vertical jump (40.5 inches) and broad jump (10’9”).
