Buccaneers’ LB Devin White Requests Trade, per Report
Buccaneers linebacker Devin White has requested a trade from the team, ESPN’s Jenna Laine reports. However, Tampa Bay does not have plans to trade White despite the request, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Laine reports White is “fed up” with the team, although her source did not give specifics as to why.
Tampa Bay selected the linebacker with the No. 5 pick in the 2019 NFL draft, and White has spent each of the past four seasons with the team. In those years, White has played in 62 total games and recorded 453 total tackles and 20 1/2 sacks.
White was a key part of the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl championship defense in 2020, totaling a career-high 133 tackles and nine sacks and earning All-Pro recognition.
The linebacker is set to play 2023 on his fifth-year option, but he is poised to become a free agent next offseason. White will make over $11 million this year before his contract expires.
The Buccaneers already re-signed veteran linebacker Lavonte David on a one-year deal earlier this offseason.
