Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Weighs in on Saquon Barkley’s Value to Giants
Cowboys star outside linebacker Micah Parson made his feelings about Saquon Barkley’s contract situation clear Thursday and he did so by calling out a Twitter user. The user, @WBG84, said Barkley was “wearing down” over the 2022 season and referenced his decline in rushing yards on the second half of the year while making an argument for the Giants to not give him a long-term deal.
Parsons didn’t want to hear any of it and called him out.
“I mean yeah that’s what happens when you the best players on your team you idiot!!” he said on Twitter. “The scheme on Monday morning is we well not let SAQUON BARKLEY BEAT Us!! People just think we be out here playing free for all!! like gtfo! That mf is that offense! Pay him!”
It was reported by Kim Jones of Newsday on Wednesday that Barkley does not plan to sign his franchise tender before the team’s offseason program begins next Monday, making him ineligible to participate. New York placed the franchise tag on Barkley in March after striking a long-term deal with quarterback Daniel Jones.
Barkley, 26, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career after being stifled by injuries in recent years. He had 1,650 yards from scrimmage and rushed for 10 touchdowns to earn his second Pro Bowl selection. The Giants will have some tough decisions to make going forward if they cannot reach an agreement with Barkley, but if it were up to Parsons, he’d see the tailback get his payday.
