Cardinals Safety Budda Baker Requests Trade, per Report
It’s been an offseason of transition for the Cardinals following a disappointing 4–13 campaign. Now, another key piece could be on the move.
Five-time Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker has reportedly requested a trade from the team, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. Baker has two years and over $27 million remaining on his contract.
Baker, 27, has spent his entire career with Arizona after being taken in the second round of the 2017 draft. He immediately became a star, earning a first-team All-Pro selection as a rookie. Baker picked up his second first-team All-Pro nod in ’20, as has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past four seasons.
Last year, Baker logged 117 tackles with two interceptions and a forced fumble in 15 games. He’s also proven to be dependable, missing just five total games for his career.
The Cardinals parted ways with former coach Kliff Kingsbury after the season, replacing him with former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon. Gannon spent two years leading Philadelphia’s defense after stints as a defensive backs coach with the Colts as Vikings.
