Nick Bosa Told Cardinals He Would ‘Haunt’ Them If Team Drafted ‘Little QB,’ Ex-GM Says
Former Cardinals general manager Steve Keim appeared on Fox’s The Herd and shared a funny anecdote with Colin Cowherd about a pre-draft dinner in 2019 with Nick Bosa.
Keim and former head coach Kliff Kingsbury met with Bosa in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. as Arizona held the No. 1 overall pick in the draft that year. During his appearance, Keim shared that the star defensive end out of Ohio State warned them both that if he drafted Kyler Murray he would “haunt” them.
“We were leaving the dinner and I’ll never forget he puts his arm around me and Kliff Kingsbury, both of us in basically a head lock and he said ‘I think you guys are probably going to take that little quarterback and, if you do, I will haunt you for the rest of your career,’” Keim said, recalling the story.
Keim oddly admitted that the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and three-time Pro Bowler was their top overall rated player. The Cardinals instead selected Murray, while San Francisco tabbed Bosa at No. 2.
Murray has led the Cardinals to just one playoff game, a 34–11 loss to the Rams in 2021, while Bosa has thrived in the NFL, recording 43 sacks in 51 career games. The dominant defensive end’s production has anchored three NFC Championship game appearances for San Francisco in the last four seasons.
