Buffalo Bills Sign RB Latavius Murray
The Bills are adding a new running back to their roster with the signing of former Broncos tailback Latavius Murray to a one-year deal on Monday.
Murray is coming off one of his best statistical seasons in several years, having rushed for 703 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games with Denver last season. He led the team in rushing yards, with more than double the total of runner-up Melvin Gordon III (318 yards).
Murray began his career in 2014 playing for the Raiders, with whom he spent three seasons, followed by two seasons with the Vikings, two seasons with the Saints, one season with the Ravens. He began last season back with the Saints but only played one game in New Orleans before moving on to Denver.
Murray earned a Pro Bowl selection during the 2015 season, when he rushed for a career-best 1,066 yards.
The Bills lost their top running back, Devin Singletary, to the Texans this offseason. He led the team with 819 rushing yards in 2022.
Buffalo signed former Patriots running back Damien Harris to a one-year deal back in March. Although Harris was limited to 462 yards in 11 games last season, he ranked 10th in the league with 929 rushing yards during the 2021 season.
Along with Harris, the Bills’ backfield also includes 2022 second-round pick James Cook and five-year veteran Nyheim Hines. Cook registered 507 rushing yards last season. Hines was acquired during the ’22 season from the Colts.
