Lamar Jackson Says He Wants to Throw for 6,000 Yards
It was a joyous occasion Thursday afternoon when Lamar Jackson put ink to paper to officially sign his five-year deal worth $260 million with the Ravens. The quarterback was all smiles at the press conference and appears to have some high expectations for himself after the team made some significant off-season moves on offense.
“I’m very eager to be honest with you,” Jackson said. “I think I told someone I wanna throw for like 6,000 yards with the weapons we have. I’m not an individual award type of guy, stat watcher, I just want to do that because no one’s ever done it and I feel like we have the weapons to do it.”
Not only has it never been done, but no one has ever come close. Peyton Manning has the record for most passing yards in a single season and he did it back when the regular season only had 16 games. Manning tallied 5,477 passing yards in 2013, meanwhile, Jackson’s career-high is 3,127 passing yards in 2019—his MVP year.

Baltimore signed Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency, drafted Boston college wideout Zay Flowers and the team will get back wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who is returning from foot surgery. Jackson will undoubtedly have more weapons, but 6,000 yards through the air will be a tall task.
