Four NFL Teams Don’t Have a Primetime Game in 2023 Season
The full NFL 2023 season schedule was released on Thursday, including all Thursday night, Sunday night and Monday night primetime games.
Most teams have multiple primetime games throughout the season, with even the Jets reaching the maximum of six nationally broadcasted games.
However, there were four NFL teams that were notably missing from the primetime spots this year: the Texans, Cardinals, Colts and Falcons. All four teams had some of the worst records in the league last season.
Even though both the Texans and Colts drafted rookie quarterbacks that could entice a national audience, neither team will play in primetime. Houston finished last in the AFC South with a 3–13–1 record. Not only will the Texans not have a primetime game, but they also will only play one game that isn’t during the 1 p.m. ET time slot, which is their Week 13 matchup against the Broncos.
Indianapolis finished third in the AFC South with a 4–12–1 record. The Colts will play one international game when they face the Patriots in Frankfurt, Germany in Week 10.

The Falcons will also play in one of the five international games this upcoming season when they travel to London to face the Jaguars in Week 4. Atlanta finished tied for last in the struggling NFC South with a 7–10 record.
The Cardinals finished last in the NFC West with a 4–13 record. The team dealt with various off-the-field matters during the offseason, including the firing of coach Kliff Kingsbury. New coach Jonathan Gannon will now not have a chance to show off the team in a primetime slot this season.
Even though these four teams won’t be included in the primetime slots this season, here’s a look at the Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football schedules in 2023.
