Former Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty won’t be in retirement for too long. On Tuesday NBC announced that he will join the network’s pregame NFL show Football Night in America on Sunday nights as an analyst for the upcoming season.

McCourty retired on March 10 after playing 13 seasons in New England. He finished his career with three Super Bowl rings, two Pro Bowl selections and three second-team All-Pro selections.

McCourty joins the Football Night in America crew consisting of host Maria Taylor, analysts Tony Dungy, Chris Simms, Jason Garrett and insider Mike Florio. The show is followed by Sunday Night Football, with Mike Tirico calling games from the booth with analyst Cris Collinsworth at his side.

The former Patriot expressed excitement for his broadcasting future on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

“MAMA I MADE IT…so excited to join the team!!!” he tweeted.

This isn’t McCourty’s first time working as an NFL analyst, though, as last season he appeared on CBS’s NFL Today on occasion while still an active player.

The 35-year-old now follows in the footsteps of his twin brother Jason, who works as a host of Good Morning Football on NFL Network.
