DeAndre Hopkins appeared to have little to say on Friday in the wake of the veteran receiver’s surprise release from the Cardinals.

Hopkins, as many players do when moving on, took to social media after the news to say goodbye to his former team. Rather than draft a drawn-out farewell, however, the 30-year-old kept it short and simple while bidding adieu to the Cardinals and their fanbase on Twitter.

Hopkins tweeted, “ᴛʜᴀɴᴋ ʏᴏᴜ ᴀᴢ 𝗔𝗟𝗪𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘!” along with various pictures from his time in Arizona. The star receiver had spent the last three seasons with the team after arriving from the Texans in a blockbuster trade in 2020.

Given how his time with the team ended, it’s worthing considering that Hopkins, who’s never been known as much of a talker, may have felt it was best to say less as he prepares to continue his career elsewhere.

Following a rocky 2022 campaign shortened by a preseason suspension, D-Hop appeared to be angling for a change of scenery after publicly commenting on the idea of playing with other players throughout the offseason. At the same time, it appeared the Cardinals were ready for a change as well after unsuccessfully shopping Hopkins, who’s set to turn 31 on June 6, prior to his release.

In his nine games played last season, Hopkins recorded 64 receptions for 714 yards and three touchdowns. The former All-Pro wideout departs Arizona with 221 receptions for 2,696 yards and 17 TDs in 35 games.
