Browns Teammates Newsome II and Felton Had Cars Stolen, per Report
Two Browns—cornerback Greg Newsome II and running back Demetric Felton—were robbed over the weekend for their vehicles, according to a Tuesday morning report from Molly Walsh of Cleveland.com.
The robberies reportedly took place just under 24 hours apart in different parts of Cleveland. Felton’s Dodge Hellcat was reported stolen out of his apartment garage at 4:50 a.m. ET Sunday near Public Square, the city’s central plaza.
At 3:30 a.m. ET on Monday, Newsome II’s Dodge Hellcat was taken at gunpoint along with jewelry by six masked men near Superior Avenue, not far from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Newsome II and Cleveland defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey were planning on driving home from a nightclub when the robbery took place, per police.
Newsome II tweeted his dismay at the situation Monday night, writing, "It's a cruel world we live in."
Vehicle theft has been a hot-button issue in the Cleveland area in recent years. On May 17, 11 people were indicted in Cleveland for participating in a scheme to steal 86 vehicles from dealerships across Northeast Ohio, collectively worth in excess of $5 million.
Newsome II and Felton are both entering their third years with Cleveland out of Northwestern and UCLA, respectively.
