Now that the Vikings are officially expected to release Dalvin Cook, the veteran running back instantly becomes one of the more intriguing names available.

It’s a little early in the process to tell how many teams are interested in Cook, but at least one team seems to be exploring the possibility. On Friday, Jets coach Robert Saleh was asked about Cook, and he implied that the team will look into signing him.

“We’ll turn the stones over on that one,” Saleh said, via SNY’s Connor Hughes.

Saleh went on to defer to general manager Joe Douglas for the final decision, but for him to mention any level of interest shows the Jets could be aggressive in pursuing Cook.

Besides the Jets, the Dolphins and Broncos are also reported landing spots for the star running back. Miami head coach Mike McDaniel, though, took a different approach to answering questions about the running back.

New York has a crowded running back room that is full of question marks. Second-year runner Breece Hall leads the way, but he is coming off a torn ACL and may be eased into the season. Veterans Michael Carter and Zonovan Knight are serviceable but not necessarily spectacular, while rookie Israel Abanikanda is an unknown for now.

Therefore, Cook could add a veteran presence to a team that is all-in on the Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. Last year, Cook played in every regular season game for the first time in his career, totaling 1,173 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
