Jaguars, Evan Engram Agree to 3-Year Contract Extension, per Report

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Evan Engram is coming off a career year in which he set new highs in receptions and yards.

Four months after the Jaguars placed the franchise tag on tight end Evan Engram, the 28-year-old has finally secured a long-term deal.

Engram and the team agreed to a three-year, $41.25 million contract on Sunday, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. The deal includes $24 million in guaranteed money and comes after he was initially set to play the 2023 season under the aforementioned franchise tag, which guaranteed him $11.345 million.

After spending his first five professional seasons with the Giants, Engram signed a one-year deal with the Jaguars as a free agent in March 2022. He broke out for a career season, setting new highs with 73 catches for 766 yards, starting all 17 games to help lead Jacksonville to a 9-8 record and the franchise’s first playoff appearance since 2017.

Engram gives Jacksonville's budding star quarterback Trevor Lawrence a reliable pass-catching option who also possesses big-play ability. Engram ranked third on the team in yards and receptions last season but was tops in yards after contact (466) and ranked second in catches of 20 yards or more (10). The former Ole Miss star was the No. 23 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and made the Pro Bowl in ’20.
