Jets’ Quinnen Williams Makes Bold Claim on Heels of New Contract

Jets defensive lineman Quinnen Williams was thrilled to report to the first day of training camp Wednesday in Florham Park, New Jersey.

The All-Pro defensive tackle is nearly a week removed from agreeing to his new four-year deal worth $96 million, making him the second-highest earner at his position behind Rams superstar Aaron Donald. Prior to earning the new deal, Williams did not participate in the team's offseason program as he was seeking a new contract.

With Williams coming off his best season in 2022, the 25-year-old told reporters that his best days on the gridiron are still ahead of him.

“I haven’t scratched the surface on what I can do,” Williams said, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini.

In four seasons, Williams has become one of the league’s elite defensive players. Since the Jets selected Williams at No. 3 in the ’19 NFL draft out of Alabama, he has registered 27.5 sacks, 191 tackles, 60 quarterback hits and 33 tackles for loss.

But he elevated his game in the 2022 campaign, recording 12 sacks and 28 quarterback hits to earn first-team All-Pro honors. With tons of buzz and excitement surrounding the franchise entering training camp—thanks to the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers during the offseason—Williams will look to take another leap in production for the Jets next season.
