Fans of the Jets, as well as fantasy football managers, have been patiently awaiting an update regarding the health of Breece Hall, after the club placed the star running back on the PUP list on Wednesday.

Although Hall is unable to join his teammates in between the white lines of the practice field, the electric second-year back is working out on his own with trainers on the side. Jets coach Robert Saleh, who wouldn’t commit to Hall being ready by Week 1, says the team plans to take it slow with the talented back.

“He looks really good, he looks strong, he is in really good shape. Obviously we are going to do good by him and make sure we slow play it. When he is ready, he is ready,” Saleh said. “The one thing with these ACL’s, you don’t want to go too quick and you don’t want to go too slow. There is a balancing act... trusting our trainers and our doctors.”

The club is hopeful Hall will be ready for the Week 1 showdown against the Bills on Monday Night Football.

“As of now, knock on wood—things are going really well. We need to see the running and the cutting, but he is trending really well in that direction,” added Saleh.

The explosive second-round pick out of Iowa State, who tore his ACL in Week 7 against Denver, is a player the Jets are depending on heavily to lead the ground game behind new quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In just seven games, Hall amassed 463 rushing yards, while adding 19 receptions for 218 yards and five total touchdowns.

The Jets, who have been rumored to have strong interest in former Vikings Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook, currently have Michael Carter, Israel Abanikanda and Zonovan Knight on the depth chart behind Hall.
