What Aaron Rodgers Texted Jordan Love the Night Before His First Day of Packers Training Camp

Jordan Love is set to fill some big shoes as the Packers starting quarterback after Aaron Rodgers left the organization following 18 seasons in Green Bay.

Since it’s something of a “passing of the torch” moment, it’s only fitting that the new Jets quarterback reached out to his successor this week during training camp.

“Aaron reached out to me last night ... yeah, he said ‘Just be yourself, have fun, enjoy it,’” Love told media on Wednesday, via Packer Central’s Bill Huber. “It’s obviously my time now, so he just said ‘be yourself.’ I mean, that’s all you can do. That’s kind of been the message from everybody is ‘be yourself, don’t try to be anybody else, don’t try to be Aaron,’ and things like that.”

Love has started in just one game in his two-year career so far. He’s appeared in 10 games total, completing 50-of-83 pass attempts for 606 yards and three touchdowns.

The 24-year-old signed a one-year, $22.5 million extension with the Packers back in May.
