The Cowboys quarterback led the league in picks last year, but he’s convinced it won’t happen again.

A couple weeks ago, fans thought Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott made quite the confident statement when he claimed that wouldn’t even reach 10 interceptions during the 2023 season after he led the league last year with 15.

The Cowboys cleared up the “10 interceptions” comment shortly after the quote went viral, though, as the team stated Prescott was actually talking about having fewer tipped interceptions.

But Prescott is now indeed calling his shot on his turnover numbers, albeit in a less defined way.

“I am going to lessen my interception numbers,” Prescott said, via ESPN. “That is a guarantee.”

Prescott’s INT numbers were an oft-discussed issue during the 2022 season. Although he played just 12 games, he led the league in picks and interception percentage (3.5%) while the Cowboys offense cruised otherwise. In Dallas’s 19–12 postseason loss to the 49ers, Prescott threw two interceptions and totaled just 206 yards passing.

It was a stark contrast to the majority of Prescott’s career, however. In his rookie season, he threw just four picks in 16 starts; 2022 was the first time in his seven years in the league that he reached at least a 3% interception rate.

Dallas will be hoping for a return to previous form, and it seems as if Prescott is determined to get there.
