Jets Make Decision on Status of Aaron Rodgers for Hall of Fame Game
The debut of Aaron Rodgers with the Jets will not happen this week after head coach Robert Saleh announced that the team will not play its starters in the Hall of Fame game vs. the Browns on Thursday, Aug. 3.
This means last year’s starter, Zach Wilson, who is expected to backup Rodgers, will start in the game.
It would have been more shocking if Rodgers did get the start on Thursday since coaches typically don’t play their starters in the Hall of Fame game. Saleh didn’t specify if he plans to play Rodgers during any Jets preseason games.
If Rodgers didn’t play in any preseason games for the Jets, then his debut with New York would take place in Week 1 on Sunday, Sept. 11 against the Bills.
In two seasons with the Jets so far, Wilson started 22 games and completed 55.2% of his passes for 4,022 yards, 15 touchdowns and 18 interceptions over two seasons.
