49ers’ George Kittle Out With Hip Injury
Days ahead of the team’s preseason opener, it appears the 49ers will be without star tight end George Kittle.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that the four-time Pro Bowler will be sidelined for about a week an adductor injury, according to Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports. Other tight ends on the roster to fill in for Kittle are Cameron Latu, Charlie Woerner and Ross Dwelley.
Kittle is entering his seventh season in the league, all with San Francisco. The former fifth-round pick set a career high with 11 touchdown receptions in 2022, making 60 receptions for 765 yards in 15 games. He’s appeared in 29 games over the past two seasons after injuries limited him to just eight in ’20.
In other news on the team’s injury front, wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud will miss up to eight weeks after suffering a broken wrist. McCloud is the team’s primary kick and punt returner, and last season had a career-best 321 yards from scrimmage with two touchdowns.
