Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has dominated headlines in the Hoosier State this offseason, demanding a trade from Indianapolis and seemingly generating comment from owner Jim Irsay.

For now, Taylor is away from the Colts rehabbing an ankle injury. However, that is expected to change this week.

"He should be back [at training camp] this week," Indianapolis coach Shane Steichen said Sunday. "Do I know the exact date he'll be back? No, but he should be back."

Taylor is currently on the physically unable to perform list and has been since reporting to camp in late July.

The 2021 All-Pro is entering the final year of the four-year, $7.8 million rookie deal he signed after being taken 41st overall out of Wisconsin in the 2020 draft. Taylor and the Colts are at a contract impasse, with neither side showing any sign of giving in after a tense offseason.

Indianapolis opens its season on Sept. 10 against the Jaguars.
