Raiders Unveil New Number for RB Josh Jacobs Following Return From Holdout
With Josh Jacobs’s holdout coming to an end, it’s a new era for the star running back and the Raiders. And apparently, with a new contract, comes a new jersey number as well.
Las Vegas posted a video Saturday showing Jacobs reacting to his new No. 8 jersey and needless to say, he was a fan of the look.
“That eight, man,” Jacobs said. “That s--- crazy. That remind me of when I was little. I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’mma play, I’mma get that eight.’”
Jacobs has worn the No. 28 since being drafted by the Raiders in 2019. Before that, he sported the No. 8 during his sophomore and junior years at Alabama.
Jacobs led the NFL in rushing last year when he ran for 1,653 yards and 12 touchdowns. After the career-year, the 25-year-old went into the offseason looking for a big payday but had to fight for it. His holdout finally came to an end with a reported one-year deal worth up to $12 million.
