Nick Bosa is still holding out from the 49ers as he hopes to secure a contract extension which has yet to materialize.

While the holdout has officially extended past the preseason, San Francisco’s general manager John Lynch indicated that the team won’t entertain the idea of trading the superstar defensive end.

“No. Real simple,” Lynch said to reporters on Wednesday when asked about the possibility of Bosa being traded, via The Athletic.

Those comments were echoed by head coach Kyle Shanahan, who also shut down the possibility of a trade amid the ongoing contract talks.

Lynch didn’t offer any updates on the contract negotiations with the 25-year-old. On Sunday, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that there was “optimism” surrounding the negotiations with Bosa. Per Fowler, Bosa is expected to sign a contract worth around $30 million per season.

While the two sides are still working towards finding common ground on the contract extension, both Lynch and Shanahan shut down any rumors that Bosa could be on the move.

Bosa led the league with 18.5 sacks in 2022 and has made the Pro Bowl in three of his first four seasons in the NFL.

In 2022, the 49ers picked up the fifth-year option on Bosa’s contract, under which the former No. 2 pick is due to earn $17.859 million in 2023.

San Francisco’s season opener is slated for Sunday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. ET on the road against the Steelers. Last week, Lynch said he expects a deal to be done before then.
