Fans Attending Jets-Bills Game Issued A Shelter In Place Warning Ahead of Kick-Off
Extreme weather conditions are impacting the actions of players, coaches and fans ahead of kickoff for the Monday Night showdown between the Jets and Bills at MetLife Stadium.
A “shelter in place” warning was issued preventing players and coaches from being on the field approximately two hours from kickoff, while fans are being asked to seek shelter due to lightning and heavy rains in the area.
While the radar shows storms currently hitting the tri-state area, the forecast is predicting that the heavy rains should be gone by kickoff.
"Current scene at MetLife, where a shelter-in-place warning is now in effect. No players or personnel are being allowed on the field," ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted on social media.
He later added an image of a Public Safety text message alert from New Jersey State Police that read:
“There is severe weather approaching. All patrons may seek shelter inside the stadium, inside your vehicles, or the walk over bridge to American Dream. Please do not gather at the entrances. Event staff are available to guide and assist you.”
Kickoff is still scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.
